Project Overview

Glitz incorporates the functions of a social media platform with an easy e-commerce function that lets sellers sell their products effortlessly and buyers to make the best buy.

The Problem

Online shopping has been in prominence for a while now. However, people are restricted to only common online marketplace and registered sellers which has made it difficult for buyers to explore other options. Furthermore, finding a service or product is proving difficult because many people had to ask their friends on different platform if they know a trusted seller of a particular product.

Moreover, small Businesses and entrepreneurs are not able to post, list and manage their business effectively on a centralized platforms like Jumia anytime they want. Trust between sellers and buyers is a fragile case and it tends to affect consumers when they get a product that’s not of the value they ordered.

My Role

I was responsible for the User experience and Interface design, I also took part in the ideation and Research Phase.

What I did

Came up with a design strategy

Carried out user research and surveys

Drawing out the user flow and the Information architecture

Created the wireframes

Visual design and user experience design

Based on the consumer research we carried out, we deduced some facts based on the charts shown below.

Moreover, respondents also showed a huge sign as per the qualitative research; Where they signaled that being able to contact the seller to be able to get what they really want is a good practice, and also for them to ask about the product they’re buying just to be on a safer side.

My Approach

The solution the product is bringing is an innovative and effective attempt to bring grassroots of businesses online and creating decentralized and barrier-free marketplace for sellers and service providers, whereby entrepreneurs will have a public storefront and product room where anybody from any part of the world can see what they sell or a service they provide.

The app will also create an additional online presence for businesses and service providers where people can see them, check out their business , make an order, pay and receive their purchase without hassle, through building trust and close contact with the sellers.

The app will make finding a service faster and easier thereby making users experience less stressful when looking for a service or product they need.

Market Validation.

People are willing to have a service that will give them access to thousands of options of products and services at a click of which they can choose their favorite from. Entrepreneurs and Businesses are also willing to have greater control over what they sell and their online presence.
